"What is one personal ritual that you try to practice everyday?"

Fitness, whether it be running or gym or some shadow boxing at home, it is a must for me rain or shine.

I run to and from work everyday, ( around 14-15km a day ) from Sandringham to Britomart ( Auckland). As a chef I usually work 12-14 hour days in the kitchen. Running gives me time to myself and my thoughts, I don't run to improve my time or try to compare my times with others, it is simply a good way to get to work, think, reflect, and come up with ideas for new dishes or episode ideas for a series I am currently writing. On my days off  I usually wake up early and get to the gym before my wife and son have woken up, this allows me to spend as much time as possible with them which is also another healing.

"How has it contributed to your overall well-being and state of mind?"

Apart from the health benefits, it helps calm the mind, helps me re-evaluate the prior day but also think critically about the upcoming day.  David Goggins has a quote " putting callouses on the mind". I truly believe this. When you start your day by pushing your limits, the rest of the day seems limitless...and easier, lol
